Last night, the WWE(World Wrestling Entertainment) announced their new online network launching on February 24, 2014. The WWE has been teasing a network launch since before Wrestlemania 28, so this has been a long time coming. The network is online only, and is $9.99 a month. You get a free week preview, then have to pay for the first six months in advance. After that, you will be charged the $9.99 monthly fee.
For this $9.99, you get access to the WWE library, which is quite extensive. They own the video for some of the biggest promotions of all time. U will get access to WCW, ECW, AWA, Mid-South, and more. So that alone will be thousands of hours of content to watch. Plus, the WWE has some original programming planned for the network. So that will be interesting on what kind of shows they put on there.
The biggest coup for this subscription is that you get access to all of the WWE pay-per-views, including Wrestlemania. That were the value really lies. Wrestlemania by itself is $60. So that half of the yearly subscription. Plus, you will get 11 more pay-per-views that are normally about $50. That’s a lot of cash to save if you normally get all the pay-per-views.
I think this is a great step for the WWE, and for wrestling fans. I am looking forward to seeing how the new network looks, and how easy it is to find content. This is just one more step towards cutting the cord and just consuming content a-la-carte.
