Seems when Bill Belichick talks, Roger Goodell listens. Earlier this season, Belichick said the NFL should consider eliminating the extra point. Belichick called it a boring play that has become automatic (1257 made out of 1263 attempted). Goodell seems to agree.
Today, speaking with Rich Eisen on the NFL Network, Goodell echoed Belichick, calling the extra point boring. So, seems the tide is going against the extra point. It has become pretty much automatic. I am interested in seeing what they do instead.
One thing that was suggested was a touchdown is worth seven, and if a team wants to get an eighth point, they can run a play. If they are successful, they get the eighth point, and if they are stopped, they only get six for the touchdown. That would be cool. We shall see how it all plays out. What do you think? Is the extra point boring? Do you want it to go away? Leave a comment and let me know.
