Comics of the Week Jan. 22,2014

Another week, another haul of comics. This week I got 7 books. Which is a pretty big week for me. As usual, I cover the gambit of the different types of books that are out there. I mean, variety is the spice of life, right?

20140123-201538.jpgI got one DC book this week, Batman. This is one of the best books DC puts out each month. Snyder and Capullo are a great team, and have done some really amazing things with Batman in the DC new 52. They have told some fresh stories about the Caped Crusader. Their work will go down as one of the best runs in the history of Batman, and that’s saying a lot.

I got two creator owned books published by Image Comics.

20140123-201735.jpgThe Walking Dead is an awesome comic. The depths of the human psyche are explored, and what you find can be very disturbing. I also got issue two of Dead Body Road. The first issue grabbed my interest, so I want to see where Justin Jordan takes us on the revenge trip.

Marvel gave me four books this week.

20140123-202950.jpgCaptain America has really gotten a lot better over the last arch. Remender has really pulled in the stoye and tightened everything up. Mark Waid has done some amazing things in Indestructible Hulk. He has showed a different side of the Hulk and Bruce Banner. I really like it. Iron Man has really been different. Some things I wasn’t expecting, and it’s been interesting to see how things play out. I am very intrigued by the story. And last, but not least, I got Empire of the Dead by the zombie legend, George Romero. I mean, it’s about ZOMBIES!!! And it’s by THE zombie mastermind, George Romero. To say I am excited by this book is an extreme understatement. Plus, having Alex Maleev as the artist is a match made in heaven.

Well, that’s my pull list for the week. I will post my book of the week tomorrow.
