Lots of football fans are in town this week for Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Authorities in Manhattan Wednesday night were cracking down on those who would illegally cater to them.
Cater, in the form of providing prostitutes.
Undercover agents say they busted a major sex ring inside an apartment building at 37th Street and 6th Avenue just blocks from Super Bowl Boulevard.
Agents walked out of 990 6th Avenue around 10 p.m. with five people under arrest; four of them women and apparent prostitutes.
Prosecutors say the sex ring had ramped up for the Super Bowl, advertising online to fans in town for the big game, allegedly ready to ply them with women and lots of drugs from cocaine to heroin to ecstasy.
Detectives are trying to find out if the women were prostitutes by choice or if they might have been victims of sex trafficking.
They went in there with a battering ram, with a shield, and a pretty heavy arsenal. Sex trafficking is top of mind for authorities on both sides of the Hudson during this Super Bowl week.
Sounds like this is SO going to be an episode on Law & Order SVU…RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES!!!
