Blacks in Comics: Deathlok

I am continuing my series on Blacks in Comics today with Deathlok. Deathlok was creating in 1974 by Rich Buckler and Doug Moench for Marvel Comics. Deathlok first appeared in Astonishing Tales #25(Aug. 1974).

Deathlok is a cyborg, where a dead human is reanimated with cybernetic technology. There have been three incarnations of him, all with that being a common theme. Deathlok has always started out as a cyborg being controlled by an evil entity to do kill. Eventually, the human side of Deathlok regains control, and takes down the bad guys.

Deathlok is a character that is underused by Marvel. He always ends up sacrificing himself. Which explains why there have been so many versions of him. Deathlok just made his debut on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Hopefully, they will flesh out his character more on the show, and we can get more Deathlok in the comics. One can hope.
