Comic Book of the Week: Lazarus #6

20140206-132046.jpgThis week, my book of the week is Lazarus #6, written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Michael Lark. This was one of my favorite new books of 2013, and it has started strong in 2014. I just love everything about this book.

I love the art. Michael Lark nails it each month. It’s a feast for the eyes. He does such a good job of conveying the story even when there is no dialogue, which is pretty tough to do.

Greg Rucka has done a tremendous job of giving us a realistic future, where the gulf between the haves and the have nots has only gotten bigger. Any book that delves into the motives of humanity, and shows the dark side of what we as humans are capable of, I am all aboard. Rucka does a tremendous job of showing that no matter what our status is in life, the same motivations drive each and every one of us. Be it power, love, money, whatever, the motives don’t change.

This is a must read book. I suggest getting the trade paperback, which collects issues 1-4, then picking up issues 5 & 6. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
