Meatloaf is a staple comfort food in our society. That being said there is a way to cut the calories and fat in meatloaf by changing just a few ingredients. It’s just as savory and delicious but 100 fewer calories and 1/3 fewer fat.
2 lbs lean ground turkey
4 egg whites
6 slices of whole wheat toast grated to crumbs
1 medium onion coarsely chopped
4 cloves of garlic minced
1 tbsp. season salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 cup of sugar free low carb barbeque sauce
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl combine all ingredients except the barbeque sauce by hand until well blended. Pour the ingredients into the greased loaf pan. Bake for 40 mins. Removed from oven and pour barbeque sauce on top to create a glaze. Put back in the oven for an additional 10 mins until fully cooked. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
