Blacks in Comics: Amanda Waller

Continuing my series on Blacks in Comics, today I am going to talk about Amanda Waller. Amanda Waller was created in John Ostrander, Len Wein, and John Byrne for DC Comics. She made her first appearance in Legends #1. Waller is one of the biggest anti-heroes in the DC universe.

Waller was a congressional aide and a government agent who has run the Suicide Squad and Checkmate. The Suicide Squad is a semi-secret government action team, made up of criminals trying to work off their time. Even though Waller has no powers, she is a force of nature who isn’t crossed very often. She is driven, and doesn’t trust people with powers. She always has contingency plans to keep her world safe.

Waller has appeared in many DC cartoons, including Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice, and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. She has also appeared in Smallville and Arrow.

Amanda Waller is one of the strongest black women in comics. If you want to learn more about her, click http://
