Fighting Against Mental Illness Stigma- The Year I Lost My Mind

Recently, I wrote a candid post about living with panic disorder. It’s important to be just as open about living with mental illness as it is to be honest about living with physical conditions or diseases such as diabetes or cancer.

People living with mental illness are (above all else) people. Too often, the western medical community forgets this and treats us with a lack of respect. I’ve experienced this firsthand after I had my daughter and dealt with severe postpartum depression.

Below is a link to my story about a very difficult year of my life. Please take a moment to read it. I encourage you to speak openly and honestly about mental illness. It is not only cathartic, but by sharing your stories, you will (in turn) help others.

Without further ado, I bring you: The Year I Lost My Mind on The Huffington Post.
