Back in November, it was announced that Marvel and Netflix were going to join forces and shoot several comic book series STRICTLY for Netflix.
Marvel TV to bring multiple original series of live-action adventures of four of Marvel’s most popular characters exclusively to the world’s leading Internet TV Network beginning in 2015. This pioneering agreement calls for Marvel to develop four serialized programs leading to a mini-series programming event.
Led by a series focused on “Daredevil,” followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” the epic will unfold over multiple years of original programming, taking Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and a culminating Marvel’s “The Defenders” mini-series event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.
Which brings us to today’s news. These four series, “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” will be filmed around NYC. There’s going to be an announcement made later on today with this fantastic news. A “source” told The Wrap,
Disney CEO Bob Iger and Governor Andrew Cuomo will announce in Times Square on Wednesday that the state has carved out tax incentives valued at around $4 million to accommodate the needs of the massive multi-character series, which should include around 60 one hour-long TV episodes.
One of my favorite tweeters, Agent M says he has “#seeeekrits” to share. How much you want to bet that it’s the above information?
Is this the infamous Phase 3???? Marvel shows on Netflix? Would be cool. I can’t wait to watch, I’m already a fan of Netflix Original shows and now that they’re introducing Marvel, it’s going to be no different. Of course I will be posting these “#seeeekrits” that Agent M will be live tweeting along with any other news that I find out.
