The Happiness Trap: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living
I picked up this book sometime last year because I wasn’t in a good place mentally, I needed a pick me up or at least a way to pick me up. I did some searches for self-help books and I kept seeing in the comments on amazon for this book “The Happiness Trap” by Russ Harris. So, I figured why the hell not and I picked up the book. I want to share some with you some excerpts of the book that has stuck with me.
There are more amazing passages in this book, there are questionnaires as well so you have “homework” to do also.

Are you, like millions of Americans, caught in the happiness trap? Russ Harris explains that the way most of us go about trying to find happiness ends up making us miserable, driving the epidemics of stress, anxiety and depression. This emppowering book presents the insights and techniques of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), a revolutionary new psychotherapy based on cutting-edge research in behavioral psychology. By clarifying your values and developing mindfulness (a technique for living fully in the present moment), ACT helps you escape the happiness trap and find true satisfaction in life.
The techniques presented in The Happiness Trap will help readers to:
- Reduce stress and worry
- Handle painful feelings and thoughts more effectively
- Break self-defeating habits
- Overcome insecurity and self-doubt
- Create a rich, full, and meaningful life
Now, I am NOWHERE NEAR “cured” because I read this book, BUT, I have come a long way from when I first started it. I have recently picked up this book and began to read it again. Your brain is a sponge, let it soak up good information that can help you become a better person.
If you’re interested in purchasing the book, I’ve pulled up the amazon page where I purchased it from. I hope one of you can use this book, even if it is just one. I’m happy.
