This week, one of my favorite all time characters debuted in an all new book. When I was a kid, I didn’t read a lot of the big titles. I didn’t read Spider-Man, or Superman, or even Batman. I was more into Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. I titled I really like was Moon Knight, and that’s what debuted this week.
Moon Knight is, for a lack of a better word, CRAZY. He is straight certifiable. Marc Spector, Moon Knight’s real name, was a mercenary who found a conscious in the desert of Egypt. His fellow mercenaries, however, killed Marc for his show of kindness. Marc was brought back by the Egyptian God Khonshu, to serve as Khonshu’s avatar of vengeance. Moon Knight wears white so his enemies see him coming. Yeah, that is crazy.
This newest Moon Knight is written by Warren Ellis. And this first issue was awesome. I love the art, and I love how Ellis has acknowledged everything that has recently happened in the previous Moon Knight runs.
Ellis is definitely returning Moon Knights to his roots by having him back in New York City. I am really looking forward to what Ellis has in stored for us. I just hope this iteration of Moon Knight lasts longer than twelve issues. Only time will tell.
