Comic Book Pull List for 03/12/2014

Well, it’s that’s time of week again. New comic book day is upon us once again. This is one of those banner weeks for me. Just so many great things to read came out this week. I don’t even know which book to read first. Three awesome stories are continuing, building to their climax, and one book finishes one story to kick off another story. And, I picked up two new books that intrigue me. So, let’s get to my pull list.

20140312-162413.jpgAvengers Undercover #1 came out today, and I decided to give it a try. It’s written by Dennis Hopeless, with Kev Walker providing the art. All I really know about this book is that it is a continuation of the Avengers Arena, when young heroes were forced to fight and kill each other, a la Hunger Games. I don’t know if I will keep getting this book past this first issue, so we shall see how it is and if it can draw me in.

20140312-162811.jpgCaptain Marvel #1 is the other new book I picked up today. I have always been a huge fan of Captain Marvel(aka Ms. Marvel aka Binary aka Warbird aka Carol Danvers). She is an awesome hero who I don’t feel really gets her due in the Marvel Universe. Her last self titled book I didn’t really care for(I hate time travel), but I heard it got better as it went on. So I am going to start at the ground floor with this new book, and see how it goes.

20140312-163139.jpgThe Superior Spider-Man #29 is the third part of the “Goblin Nation” event. I am loving this book. I love what Dan Slott has done with Spidey, contrary to what a lot of long time Spider-Man fans think. This story is the culmination of a lot of underlying things that Slott has done on his Spidey run, so I can’t wait to see how things end. And we know it ends soon because Amazing Spider-Man returns in April with Peter Parker back as Spidey. This is a must read title.

20140312-163542.jpgEast of West #10 is just one of my favorite books. It’s so well written, and the art is just breathtaking. The splash pages are crazy. East of West was the best new book that came out last year. The dialogue is like reading a Quentin Tarantino script. It’s so spot on and impactful. Every freaking word means SOMETHING. the details are what make this book so amazing.

20140312-163844.jpgI love The Walking Dead. Issue 123 came out today, furthering the “All Out War” story. This story has had me at the edge of my seat each issue. I love Negan and how bat$hit crazy he is, and yet still able to stay one step ahead of Rick. Negan is just full of surprises, and you never know what he is going to do next. Negan is one of the best villains in comics right now.

20140312-164142.jpgBatman #29 ends one chapter of the “Zero Year” story, while kicking off the next. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are having one of the greatest Batman runs of all time. The story and art are defining Batman to a whole new generation of comic book readers. And I think it’s awesome.

Well, that’s my pull list for this week. A ton of great reads. I can’t wait to dig in. I will try to pick my pick of the week in short order. It’s going to be tough though. Four of these books are on amazing runs, and one of the new books is one of my favorite characters, so that pulls at the heart strings. So, let me get to reading. Laters.
