The Lego Movie Review

20140314-164251.jpgWell, I finally caved and took my kids to go see The Lego Movie. I wasn’t too hyped to see this, but the kids broke me down.

Let me start with the positives. The animation was awesome. The movie looked really good. The voice acting was great. The voice acting is so important for animated movies. The voices have to fit the facial expressions on the characters. Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell and Elizabeth Banks were great. Will Arnett really stole the show to me though as Batman. He was a great prick Batman.

The story was pretty simple and straight forward. Unwitting character must step up and be a hero and save the world. Seen it a million times in kids movies. This movie wasn’t any different. They did do an excellent job of integrating the different types of Lego builders there are. There are two types of people who build with Legos. There are people who follow directions, and there are people who just like to create. This is something they did a really good job with in this movie.

So, those are the the good things. The one problem I had with the movie was the end. I thought they did such a great job with the story, until the end, when the train just came off the rails. It just didn’t fit the rest of the story, and wasn’t needed. I am not going to spoil it, but it just ruined the movie for me.

I would give this movie two out of four stars. The ending really overshadowed all the good good things in the movie. Let me know what you think in the comments.
