Ditch The Wipes: Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water 1

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water $7.99

Simple Micellar Water is a great makeup remover. It’s something that I reach for time and time again. I first posted about this on Bury Me In Red Lipstick so you can read my first impression there. Right now this is definitely on my repurchase list.

This typically gets most of my makeup off so I don’t feel like I have to scrub and scrub with a cleanser to get the rest. I like this more than a makeup wipe because I can control how saturated I want my cotton pad to be. A wipe is as wet as it’s going to get. Sometimes I follow-up with a toner and sometimes I don’t. Use your own judgment. I DO NOT recommend this for removing eye makeup though because it burns. OUCH! Other than that, it’s a great product and could be an alternative to whatever you’re using to remove makeup now.

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water is $7.99 and available at drugstores.

Don’t Fear The Red Lip

5 Tips For Wearing Red Lipstick

I love red lipstick. My blog is named Bury Me In Red Lipstick after all so it makes sense. However, I know everyone isn’t quite there. For one reason or another some are apprehensive about red lipstick. I’m here to say there’s no need. So here are 5 tips to help you jump in.

1. Leave fear at the door. There’s something out there for you. You are not limited by your skintone. From orange-reds to deep wines it’s out there.

2. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Whether you go to the makeup counter or try it on at home, prep your lips for color. Banish dry skin with a lip scrub or toothbrush so you can get a clear view of how the color looks on your lips.

3. Add liner and mascara. A bare face with a red lip may be jarring to see for the first time. The liner and mascara will give you a glimpse into a finished look and help you better assess how it looks.

4. Return policies are you friend. Trial and error may seem daunting and expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Ulta, Sephora, and drug stores have good return policies. If you try something and it doesn’t look right take it back. Don’t let it gather dust in a drawer and cause you to get frustrated because you feel like you’ve wasted money.

5. Have fun. Experiment with finishes, stains, glosses. As long as you keep a positive outlook you’ll find something that works.

An Introduction: Shanta Fabulous

Support is essential in this world because no one finds success alone. So it’s with this support from Vixen of Vixen Varsity that’s allowing me to introduce myself to you.

Shanta Fabulous intro

My name is Shanta and I run the beauty blog Bury Me In Red Lipstick. I started my blog on a whim in 2013 because I thought the title was dope and needed a reason to justify my makeup purchasing habits. I now realize my blog is the perfect way for me to give attention to my love of beauty and writing while helping fellow beauty lovers find something they can love. So what does all that have to do with support?

Blog posts from Bury Me In Red Lipstick will be posted here on Vixen Varsity. Vixen is graciously sharing this space with me so I will be able to share some of my work with you and if you want you can pop over to burymeinredlipstick.com and check out my recent posts. So a huge “thank you” to her for that.

A beauty lover can’t live on lipstick and blush alone so when I’m not playing with them, I love to watch my favorite shows(Game of Thrones, Power, Steven Universe) or my favorite movies (Snatch, The Neverending Story). I love to participate in livetweets as well. I try to exercise, but tend to fall short. That’s probably because I haven’t met a french fry I didn’t like.

A Blue For Fall: Zoya Pixie Dust – Sunshine

zoya pixie dust sunshine

Neutrals and wines are a fall staple, but I’m big on blues when it comes to nail color. Blue is one of those colors that feels off the beaten path to me so I tend to gravitate toward it when I’m deciding what to do with my nails.

This Zoya Pixie Dust is from the Fall 2013 Collection. It’s called Sunshine. It’s a “cool toned navy blue with a sparkling finish”.

I love a dark blue. It took 2 coats get an opaque look. I’ve tried Pixie Dusts with and without a basecoat and haven’t noticed a difference in wear or application. However, use your own judgment.

Now that Fall is here what nail colors will you be reaching for these days?

Zoya Pixie Dust in Sunshine is $10 and available where Zoya products are sold and zoya.com
