Sirius XM’s TheMoms Host Annie Event Sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line

Sirius XM’s TheMoms hosted a screening for the movie Annie starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis at the Sony screening room on Tuesday afternoon. The event was sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line and one lucky family that attended will win a cruise! There were tons of families lined up, little boys and girls all dressed in red and ready to see Annie. norwegian-cruise-cupcakes In the waiting area, the children helped themselves to some yummy cupcakes and slices of pizza while the moms and dads talked amongst themselves, each hoping that they’ll be the lucky family who wins the cruise prize.

Before the actual screening of Annie, we had a few commercials from Norwegian Cruise Lines which had me ready to fight to the “death” for a chance to win the family cruise prize. A vacation was needed right there and then, pretty sure there were more families who thought the same thing. THIS. IS. SPARTA! A duel was definitely going to break out right there in the Sony screening room, if it was announced that you had to fight to win. TheMoms, Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein, announced that the winner would be notified before Christmas. They also had another surprise, some of the cast members would be in attendance!

There were about 15 children who sat on the floor to watch Annie and only a couple of children moved from the spot where they sat. They were so mesmerized by the movie, one little girl would dance her little heart out during certain musical scenes.quvenzhane-wallis-opportunity My nieces attended the AnnieMoms event and my eldest niece, 14, broke out in tears during several scenes that featured Annie, namely the “Opportunity” number. The movie won her over, my 12-year-old-younger niece was not here for Annie. She told me “nothing beats the original”, it was an “okay” movie, that was “missing mysterious elements” and was curious why they were “singing off-key.”

Yikes!

After the screening of Annie, in walked four members of the cast…

Zoe Margaret Colletti (Tessie), Nicolette Pierini (Mia), Eden Duncan-Smith (Isabella), and Amanda Troya (Pepper). These lovely ladies played four foster girls in Miss Hannigan’s (Cameron Diaz) care. They stopped by to answer a few questions from the audience and later took pictures with the children in attendance. This was the first feature film for 3 of the young ladies, all have done previous commercials before Annie. Here’s a few videos from the interview.

Nicolette Pierini who plays Mia spoke on Cameron Diaz being an awesome set mother.

The young ladies speak about experiences on set.

Just a few pictures of the four foster girl actors from the Annie remake movie and attendees.

Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

Annie is in theaters December 19th.

Check out TheMoms Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein looked so fall ready in these jackets from Lands End.

When we arrived at the Dolby Screening Room we were greeted with fall/winter coats and jackets from Lands End along with yummy treats from Sweet City Candy that had a beautiful blue themed. Moms and dads from the NYC area brought their children to the event and they headed straight for the candy bar. Parents and their children tried on the coats that were there from Lands End, took pictures and the best part was if you uploaded the picture to your social media you had a chance to win a $100 gift card! Over 5 parents won the $100 gift card, but not to feel left out, the rest of the parents received a $25 gift card from Lands End! How sweet was that?!?

Speaking of sweets, there was a blue theme going on in the candy bar. Blue sharks, blue gummy worms and bears, there were blue tongues and lips everywhere! It was a such a “blue”-tiful display from Sweet City Candy.

TheMoms Quick Q&A With Julie Bowen From Disney’s Planes: Fire and Rescue

disney's planes fire and rescue

Today, I went to an advance screening for Disney’s Planes: Fire and Rescue courtesy of Sirius XM’s TheMoms with Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gersetein. Before the screening, TheMoms did a quick Q&A with Julie Bowen, who plays Dipper an air tanker who puts out fires.

Check out the Q&A below:

Julie Bowen: (On Disney’s Planes: Fire and Rescue) “I play a plane named Dipper and she is an air tanker and I put out fires and I’m really cool. It has a great message, you can enjoy the movie… message or no message. I’m really proud of being apart of this, I’ve never gotten to do an animated voice character in a movie, certainly never Disney which is a big deal. I think I’m a toy and I think now I’m a vitamin. I’m a plane and a vitamin, I made it…who needs awards…emmy’s

Melissa Musen Gerstein: What’s the big difference acting wise animation vs comedy on Modern Family.

Julie Bowen: There was a really big difference because I’m alone and I usually rely heavily on shtick, Ty or the other actors. This time I had to rely on editors. I spouted forth a lot of stuff that I couldn’t say in front of most of this audience. PG, PG-13, R, NC-17 to get it all out there and they would edit it.

Denise Albert: How was it to work on a film your kids can actually enjoy?

JB: That was huge! They never seen Modern Family, they’re terribly not interested in mom being anything other than a mom. It was the first time they got excited about going to a premiere and sitting there watching me, seeing all the commercials and hearing my voice and the toy and now I’m a vitamin!

Julie Bowen left us on the following note before her departure. I know your very powerful people, blog gently. We read all this stuff and we weep when it’s bad so… blog gently.

“Planes: Fire and Rescue” is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

You can see Julie Bowen and her semi stalker tendencies in the new Disney’s Planes: Fire and Rescue in theaters tomorrow.
